Milestones Through the Decades

Key events and reforms that transformed Nayagarh District Central Co-operative Bank into a modern, farmer-centric co-operative institution.

Over more than a century, the Bank has worked closely with PACS, farmers, self-help groups and local businesses to nurture co-operative credit in Nayagarh. Each decade has added new responsibilities: from crop finance and rural savings to digital payments and inclusive banking.

Foundation

Bank Founded at Nayagarh

Commenced operations on 1st June 1916 with ₹10,000 working capital and seven affiliated societies, laying the foundation of organised co-operative banking in Nayagarh.

1940s
Growth of PACS

Expansion of Primary Societies

Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) were gradually organised across the region to extend crop credit and input support right at the village level.

1956
Amalgamation

Integration & Capital Strengthening

Nayagarh Central Co-operative Bank was amalgamated with Nayagarh C.C.B. Around this period share capital reached about ₹3.29 lakh and deposits ₹7.76 lakh.

1970s
Rural Focus

Priority to Crop & Rural Credit

Stronger focus on crop loans, Kisan Credit Card-type products and credit linkage for small and marginal farmers, SHGs and rural artisans.

2000s
Modernisation

Technology & Service Upgrade

Core banking solutions, improved branch infrastructure and diversification of deposit and loan products helped serve members faster and more transparently.

Inclusion & Digitisation

Financial Inclusion & Digital Push
